cade community service

Cade Middle School’s Advanced Academics students recently completed community service projects.

Sixth-grade students Chase Sturm and Landon Orsak organized their community service project under the guidance of teacher Susan Lofland, math teacher at Cade. On Saturday, Dec. 11, students collected donations at PetSmart and donated to Adopt a Pet. The students collected more than $1,000 worth of supplies.

“As part of the curriculum for Advanced Academics classes, students pick a community service project, contact people and businesses by phone or email with teacher supervision, create posters, flyers and organize donations,” Lofland said. “They have done this all on their own. I am just their backup person guiding them through the process.”

Other community service projects in Lofland’s class will be completed at the end of the week with students gathering donations for  Dorothy O’Connor and Christ Kitchen.

“The students are very motivated to help our community of Victoria and I couldn’t be more proud to be their teacher,” Lofland stated.
