Victoria Independent School District (VISD) is excited to announce the expansion of its Career and Technical Education (CTE) Programs of Study for the 2025-26 school year. These new offerings will provide students with additional opportunities to gain industry-specific skills, earn college credit, and prepare for high-demand careers.

The 2025-26 Programs of Study will introduce the Energy Career Cluster, featuring two specialized Programs of Study: Refining & Chemical Processes and Renewable Energy.

These programs have been developed in collaboration with Victoria College and are designed to equip students with the knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to succeed in the energy sector. The curriculum includes dual credit courses, enabling students to make significant progress toward earning an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree after high school graduation.  This degree can lead to jobs in the industry such as a Process Technician/ Operator and Instrumentation & Electrical Technicians at chemical plants and energy-related companies in the Gulf Coast Region.

Students who complete these Energy Programs of Study will also earn College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) credit by successfully completing at least three dual credit courses while still in high school. This initiative supports VISD’s ongoing commitment to providing students with relevant, high-quality education that aligns with workforce demands.

In addition to the Energy Career Cluster, VISD is also adding the following Programs of Study to its CTE offerings:

  • Agriculture Business, Leadership & Communications

  • Digital Communications

  • Health & Wellness

“These new programs are a testament to VISD’s dedication to expanding opportunities for students to explore careers and gain real-world experience before they graduate,” said Dena Justice, Director of CTE. “By partnering with Victoria College, we are ensuring that our students have access to the latest industry knowledge and hands-on training that will prepare them for future success.”
