In accordance with House Bill 3 (HB3), Victoria ISD will implement the presence of armed guards on every campus within the VISD. This comprehensive security measure aims to enhance the safety and well-being of students, staff, and visitors across all our educational institutions.
House Bill 3, signed into law by Governor Greg Abbott, recognizes the importance of ensuring a secure learning environment for students and staff in Texas schools. As part of the mandate, VISD has taken proactive steps to align with this legislative initiative and prioritize the safety of our community members.
With the implementation of armed guards on each campus, we are reinforcing our commitment to fostering a safe and nurturing environment for learning and growth. The presence of trained security personnel will act as a deterrent against potential safety threats and provide immediate response capabilities in case of emergencies.
“Victoria ISD is dedicated to the welfare of our students and educators, and we believe that the deployment of armed guards is a crucial step in ensuring their safety,” said Superintendent Quintin Shepherd. “This measure allows us to maintain a secure environment while preserving the sanctity of learning spaces. While our passion is education, our top priority is the safety of everyone on our campuses."
In addition to implementing an armed guard presence, VISD continues to work closely with local law enforcement agencies to coordinate emergency response plans and safety drills. The collective efforts of our staff, parents, and community members contribute significantly to creating a safe and supportive educational experience for all.
We believe that the implementation of armed guards on all campuses is a proactive and necessary step in safeguarding our students and staff. Through this initiative, we are reinforcing our commitment to creating a positive and secure learning environment that will allow our students to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.
