Victoria ISD is proud to announce that Elizabeth Chandler, current principal of Schorlemmer Elementary School, will be transitioning to serve as the new principal of Cade Middle School. This leadership transition comes as current Cade principal Jill Lau prepares to retire after 33 years of dedicated service to the campus and district.
Mrs. Chandler brings a passion for student success and instructional leadership to her new role. A seasoned educator, she has served in various leadership and teaching positions throughout her career, consistently championing student achievement and fostering positive school cultures.
Chandler brings 19 years of experience in education, including 14 years with Victoria ISD. She has served the Schorlemmer Elementary community for the past 12 years, holding roles as both assistant principal and principal. In addition to her campus leadership, Chandler has contributed to districtwide growth by serving as a principal coach for the past two years, supporting and mentoring fellow campus leaders. A graduate of Texas A&M University and an alumna of the prestigious Holdsworth Leadership Program, Chandler is also a proud VISD parent—bringing both professional expertise and a personal commitment to student success.
Her appointment to Cade Middle School reflects the District’s commitment to aligning strong leadership talent with strategic goals that support all students and staff. As a trusted leader already within the VISD family, Chandler is well-positioned to continue the campus’s momentum and build upon its strengths.
“After 12 incredible years at Schorlemmer Elementary, I’m honored to begin this new chapter as principal of Cade Middle School,” Chandler said. “I’m excited to join the Bulldog family and continue supporting students through these pivotal years of growth and discovery. I remain committed to strong community connections and high expectations as we pursue excellence together.”
Mrs. Lau, who has faithfully served as principal of Cade Middle School for 12 years, will retire at the end of this school year. Her tenure has been marked by a deep commitment to student learning and campus growth, and her contributions have left a lasting legacy.
Victoria ISD will begin the process of identifying a new principal for Schorlemmer Elementary in the coming weeks and will keep families informed as that process progresses.
