Dear Cade Families,

Welcome to the start of the 2019-20 school year at Harold Cade Middle School!


Every staff member has been working very hard to prepare for the return of our scholarly students. We have set very high expectations to guarantee that every student at Cade will be successful this school year.

Student academic success is the main goal of every staff member at Cade Middle School. We believe that every student will learn to the highest level, and we are prepared to offer more time and support to each and every student. We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our students can achieve their highest potential.


Student safety continues to be a high priority at Cade. Therefore, we will continue to implement our safe and civil procedures. All students are required to wear their ID badges every day. Please encourage your child to wear his/her ID badge, every day at school, and discourage your child from leaving, forgetting or exchanging badges with other students. A replacement fee will be charged if the student ID badge is lost. We are also strongly enforcing a student ID badge policy this school year which includes student consequences for not having an ID badge. Our teachers will go over this policy with the students on the first day of school and will review the policy throughout the school year. Parents can also find this policy on our Cade website.

Please take time to read and go over the VISD Student Code of Conduct and Student Handbook. The VISD dress code and grading policy are just a few of the pertinent pieces of information in these documents. We expect all students to be in full compliance of the dress code each and every day. Parents needing clarification can call the school office at 788-2840.

School hours are from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Staff is on duty beginning at 7:30 a.m. The doors open for students at 7:30 a.m., no earlier. All students are required to enter the school through the cafeteria doors. The breakfast line opens at 7:40 a.m.

Providing a Safe, effective, and efficient arrival and dismissal process is very important to us!  To join in our efforts, please remember the following procedures:

  1. In the morning, parents may drop students off either in the front of the school or in the bus loop area. Students must enter the building using the cafeteria doors.  6th grade students remain in the cafeteria and 6th and 7th graders report directly to the gym until dismissed to first period.
  2. During after school dismissal, students will remain outside and wait for their ride. Parents may pick students up either in the front of the school (by the flag poles) or at the bus loop. It is very important for students to know in advance which area they will be picked up.  Students are not allowed to walk down Tropical Drive nor are they allowed to walk to West. Parents parking in the West staff parking lot are asked to get out of their vehicle and walk to the bus loop to pick up their children.
  3. The right lane is used to load students in cars and buses. The left lane is used for traffic flow. Staff members are assigned to outside duty to assist students in dismissal procedures until 4:00 p.m.
  4. All bus riders will remain in the building until arrival of their bus. 6th graders report to the cafeteria and 7th and 8th graders report to the gym. 

All our procedures are put into place to ensure student safety! Your child/children are VERY IMPORTANT to us!
